The game has a great story and the gameplay is excellent. The side mission exploring The Abbey feel very fleshed out and not just tossed in to kill time. The card system keeps combat fresh since you never have the same abilities to use, but plenty of depth and tricks to redraw and maximize turns. The upgrade system is pretty good and you can add modifiers to abilties.

The only downside is the graphics aren't cutting edge, which only really shows during cutscenes, gameplay looks great. Definitely worth full retail value, even better on sale.

As a huge fan of XCOM 2, I was excited to hear Firaxis was making a game with Marvel. I am a long time Marvel fan and love this game.

This game is great.

Based loosely on a comics run from the nineties, it’s a turn and card-based game (think Gwent, NOT The Witcher) that has some pretty fun gameplay elements that is slightly reminiscent of the 2015 BattleTech game.

Each “day” consists of running a card-based mission, then returning to your sanctuary to train, upgrade gear, explore the grounds (in third person), discover secrets, and eavesdrop on AWESOME dialogue between the various Marvel characters.

Between exploring the grounds and running missions, I felt like it gave me the ability to scratch a few different types of gameplay itches.

Also, mild spoilers, but you join a BOOK CLUB and discuss books with Blade, Cap, and Wolverine. It’s brilliant fun. 🤣

Highly recommend, but understand that this is NOT a hack-and-slash game.
